This was a special engagement photo session for me, because Carlie is the younger sister to our previous wedding client, Cassie Johnson. Also, I got a chance to visit my alma mater and stroll around campus, revisiting the days when I was a student at ISU.
The one thing I love to hear about is when high school sweethearts get engaged and eventually get married. Here is one of those stories. Evan and Carlie met when he was a senior in high school and she was a junior. They met through mutual friends, but not the traditional way. Here is the odd story of the wing man and wing woman falling for one another. Yes, you heard me correctly. They went with their friends, who were in the process of dating, as their friend's wing man and wing woman. Shortly there after, Evan proceeds to ask out Carlie and they maintain their relationship throughout their college experience at ISU. During Evan's final year at ISU, he plans this elaborate proposal, where he manages to invite his family and Carlie's family to ISU for the surprise proposal. During the Mass Campaniling event, which is a tradition at ISU, in which students gather under the clock tower and kiss their significant other at midnight and watch fireworks. But on this special Mass Campaniling event, Evan proposed as midnight struck and the fireworks erupted. Carlie has the memory of Evan proposing with both sides of their family present during this special moment in time.
So how fitting is it that we do their engagement photo session here at Iowa State University. We want to wish Carlie & Evan nothing but love and happiness in the months to come, leading up to their big day in 2017!
